Birthday Boy Turns 3
Diego's fabulous birthday week began with a very full day of fun at Disneyland with Abo, Aba, y Mama. We rode all of the kids rides, starting with "It's a Small World," and even enjoyed Pirates of the Carribbean (though, Diego clung to my arm the entire time!). After a brief nap in the stroller, we stayed until it got cold and dark, and Diego LOVED meeting Pluto in person! He also enjoyed seeing all of the characters in the Christmas parade. Disneyland was a hit, and now Diego is a big fan of the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Winnie the Pooh! On his actual birthday (Dec. 13), we celebrated with a small group back in Seattle; his two best buddies Henry and Julian and their mom Kiran came by for a morning of games and romping around the house. We enjoyed decorating a cake and eating lunch. As we walked the boys out to the car, I locked us out of the house, so we ended up spending the afternoon at their house, with the boys napping, Kiran working, and me resting on the couch. Not a bad day at all! The following Sunday, we invited all of our West Seattle friends and families, plus Lauren's family from the Tacoma area to join us in a Guatemalan feast, complete with hand-made tamales, chicken enchiladas, corn tortillas, and traditional refried beans. The evening was full of laughter and good times, as the young kids ran upstairs and downstairs all night, while the adults ate delicious food! This year more than ever, Diego really understood what a birthday was all about, and he enjoyed every minute of HIS week! So much so, that he is not accepting of Mama's birthday coming tomorrow...."Mama no has birthday," is his response when I begin to sing Happy Birthday to myself. Hee hee!
